Our History

Itze Nah was born during the COVID-19 health crisis, when many families in our community suddenly lost access to basic necessities such as healthcare, food, education, and emotional support. In response, a group of committed women and allies came together to take action.
What began as an informal network delivering food baskets, clothing, and household essentials quickly evolved into a project focused on long-term, holistic support for families in vulnerable situations.

On March 17, 2021, the organization was formally established as a nonprofit. Later, on August 5, 2022, it adopted the name Itze Nah, strengthening its institutional identity.

Itze Nah means “House of Light” in the Mayan language, symbolizing a safe and welcoming space where families can grow, learn, and thrive.
